Youth & Media Evaluation - Overview


As the field of youth media has grown, so has the need to demonstrate and document the range of effects of youth media programs. In 2004, Time Warner commissioned YouthLearn and EDC's Center for Children and Technology to launch a technical assistance effort to support youth media programs in building their capacity to conduct program evaluation. Fourteen programs, all of which had received grants from Time Warner, worked together with the technical assistance team to review their current evaluation needs and practices and to develop new approaches to evaluation that better serve their purposes.

The technical assistance project included annual conferences, targeted support and professional development for each grantee, and the first stages of developing a collaborative research agenda.
