Or return to: overview page

Session 8: New Products

Recommended time
Minimum 60 minutes, maximum 90 minutes

Outcomes
To be determined by group

How to
Continue working on the multimedia presentation for this session and for future sessions, if necessary. Start planning new products that can be made with the content used for the multimedia presentation.

Sample projects

Web Site
Make a Web site about soil. Check out session 6 of the "Internet Photo Essay" project for suggestions on how to do this as a group.

Group Journal
Make a book that can be copied and distributed to other children, parents and adults. Storyboard the book pages.

Videos
Make a short video about soil. For first-time video projects, the simpler the equipment, the better. Sony Digital Mavica cameras can record short video clips with sound (up to 60 seconds). Or use a standard, low-end 8MM digital or analog video camera to make longer videos. Check the article on making videos for a description of how to make a 30-second to 60-second "problem solution" video using a digital camera, a clip lamp and storyboarding.

Green Maps
Check the Green Maps Web site for suggestions, templates and examples of how to make customized maps that display the location and/or distribution of resources within a neighborhood or across a community. For example, how many community gardens, parks and playgrounds are in your students' neighborhood? Where can people buy fresh produce? Where are the waste and hazardous dump sites in the community? Maps can be made by hand or using software.
