YouthLearn
Guidelines
The
YouthLearn list is hosted as a service of Education
Development Center, Inc. The goals of the discussion group are
to create a space where practitioners can exchange questions and
answers; provide up-to-date information about learning and technology
issues; and facilitate collaboration among educational and community-based
organizations.
This
list is moderated in order to preserve high quality discussion and
avoid mailbox clutter. Each message sent to the list is reviewed
by the list facilitator prior to being posted. Please review our
User Agreement for more details.

contact the list facilitator at info@youthlearn.org.
Please
note that EDC may use the content shared on these lists within its
web site and in publications as part of its YouthLearn resource
collection.

Suggested
topics
- Introduce yourself and your organization.
- Provide teaching tips, project ideas, and recommendations concerning
learning and technology.
- Announce upcoming conferences, workshops, seminars, and grants
deadlines.
- Suggest relevant websites, electronic discussion groups, and
newsletters.
- Note what works with children and youth enrolled in your program.
General rules
- Do not send personal messages to the list.
- When list members respond offline to a request you've made,
please summarize the information you received and post it so we
can all benefit. Use descriptive subject headings to give other
list members a quick and accurate idea of what your message is
about.
- Please do not send attachments as they might not be readable
to all subscribers.
- The following types of messages will not be tolerated: off-topic
posts, junk mail, chain letters, and virus scares and discussions
about them.
- All replies to a post will be sent to the entire list. If you'd
like to post privately to an individual, please type in their
email address.
- Discussion of commercial products are welcome if they give context
of how they were used: i.e. what setting, what population, and
the 'pros' and 'cons' of using that product.
- Unsolicited commercial posts are not welcome, although in
the future, we may consider having a separate list for those
interested in such posts.
- If there are posts that contain questions concerning commercial
product recommendations, they will be posted to the list.
- YouthLearn does not review or endorse the products mentioned
on the discussion list.
