Make a Book

Students will create a class book. Students will use visual mapping to brainstorm the theme of the book. Each student will create a page in the book.

Spaghetti Book Club

Description: Book reviews by kids for kids. The Spaghetti Book Club integrates reading, writing art and technology by teaching kids how to write book reviews and then allows them to publish on the Web. Students can reflect on the books they are reading and "share their opinions and reactions with friends, family members, and kids around the world."

Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears: A West African Tale

Description: This book, a Caldecott Medal winner, is a good example of the type of literature you can use to make reading into a more fun and participatory experience for children ages 3 to 7.
